People are still really racist, and it just amazes me. I posted a picture on a thread wearing headphones and someone asked what i was listening to. Some ignorant person commented "I bet it's hip hop" just because I'm black Maybe i used the wrong word, more stereotypical than anything but it is still wrong. Not all black people like hip-hop and even if they do that's not ALL they listen to. Why are people still so close-minded sometimes?
I agree, I'm mixed (half black half white) when I was a kid I got bullied for it till I cried. I think being racist is stupid. My biology teacher said that humans are 99.9% yet people are still mean to each other about looks? Really? If everyone was the same itd be stupid. Being different is awesome everyone should stop copying each other and stand out cause being different is what makes us, us.
So, what music were you listening to if it wasn't hip hop. After all there is a good chance they assumed it was hip-hop because you were younger and not necessarily because you were black. Hip hop is what most young people listen to after all.
Trust me. They way they commented and the responses on the comment let you know it was because i was black. Im not that young. I was actually listenin to pop .
I'm willing to bet it was a joke. People are too quick to jump at the chance to scream "RACIST!!" you should've just shrugged it off and gone about your day. People can only be offended if they choose to be.
Or if it is offensive. Which it was, whether it was a joke or not. People are also so quick to shrug it off when it isn't pointed towards them.
You make the choice. Choose to be offended or choose to get over it. Personally, I would choose to just move on. Life it too short and too sweet to let the unhappiness of others ruin it.
I'm full white and I sometimes get teased for listening to rap/hip hop, watching BET, and taking African American Music class as well as Black America class next semester It doesn't get to me though.
I saw that post and no one was being "racist" and you also said you were listening to drake which last time I checked wasn't considered "pop". LOL
