yes before and after are fine for minor edits such as lighting/hue/etc layers would be required for more detailed edits typically done in photoshop also the metadata would be the same before and after edits, so just one copy of that is fine
Like need my ign handwritten included in the photo we post? Also so old photos taken by us only won't work then for this right?
Yes you need to handwrite your ign on a paper and include it in the photo. You may only submit new photos taken specifically for the event.
Theme 1: Composition This theme is focused on 2 compositional elements: Rule of Thirds & Leading Lines The rule of thirds as a way of dividing a frame for optimal composition. It involves evenly dividing the frame between two equally spaced horizontal and vertical gridlines, creating a three-by-three grid (this is shown below). In order to create balance and flow within the image, compositional elements should be placed where these lines of the grid intersect or segment your image. This tends to allow for more interesting images than simply centering a subject. Leading lines are visual elements that pull the viewerโs eye toward a subject or focal point. They can be anything โ roads running off into the distance, an arm stretched out toward something else, tree branches rising toward the moon โ anything that pulls attention toward something else. The point of leading lines is to draw your attention to the focus of the photo and hold it there or to move it around the image to multiple focuses. Using both of these elements thoughtfully, create an image and describe how you chose to use the elements in your photo in relation to this theme. You can submit here or on the event channel in the PIMD Discord. Your submission format should be the following: Submission IGN in Image Proof Metadata Typed IGN Editing software (if you used any) Explanation of your process and any extra info you want to share
Theme 1 Title: Ode to Bamboo Submission, IGN, Metadata: https://imgur.com/a/rgLf6FC Typed IGN: QZ Editing software: Phone Gallery Process/info: Took this photo from a low angle to emphasize the height of the bamboo and create a sense of depth I applied the rule of thirds by positioning the main bamboo stalk slightly off center The leading lines formed by the bamboo stalks guide the viewer's eyes upward toward the leaves and sky
Theme 1 Title: Hello and Welcome Submission, IGN, Metadata: https://imgur.com/a/Xpbnlq3 Typed IGN: @-Ahli-LovesMike Editing software: iPhone Photos Process/info: For the Rule of Thirds, I placed the gnome slightly to the left but central to the image, and used the lightness of the house on the left to contrast the shadow of the trees on the right. The wood makes up the bottom third. For the Leading Lines, I used the wood at the bottom and the edge of the house to the left to highlight the gnome. I'm hoping the fence in the background also brings the eye to the bottom half of the image. Thanks @QZ for the submission formatting ๐
Title: Last One Standing Submission, IGN, Metabase: https://imgur.com/a/LJfYp5c Types IGN: XxMaJeStIcxX Process/Info: For this photo, this vibrant flower was the only flower in the yard. It stood tall and had the most vibrant color that I had to capture and enhance. I captured it from a low angle, capturing the green leaves in front of it to show that it outgrew its surroundings, to give it depth, and to enhance its purple color. The leading lines is the horizontal line of the blue container which guides the views eyes directly to the purple flower, complimenting it so well. The lines on the fence separating nature, separating the sky from the ground.
Theme 1 Title: There Goes The Neighborhood Submission, IGN, Metadata: https://imgur.com/gallery/MIZ8PTW Typed IGN: Luc Editing software: Phone Gallery Process/Info: The area where I took this photo was named after the tree that was cut down. There were two great elms. This was the last one. I brought the skull and placed it on the stump for symbolism. It felt apropos. I took this photo to emphasize the devastation of a city growing around nature, killing rather than coexisting. I applied the rule of thirds by positioning the skull slightly to the left, revealing most of the dead stump. The leading lines formed by the skulls curvature drags the eyes to the tree stump.
Theme 2: Depth of Field Depth of field is the zone in your image that appears in focus. This changes based on a few factors. The closer your subject is to the camera, the shallower your depth of field becomes. Focusing on a close subject with an automatic camera will typically leave the background out of focus. Another way to manually effect depth of field is by using the aperture setting. Aperture (or f-stop) deals with how wide your lens is open and therefore how much light gets let in. Due to this, smaller numbers (a wider aperture) give you a more shallow depth of field and a brighter image, while larger numbers (a smaller aperture) give you a deeper depth of field and a darker image. The third factors is focal length, which deals with how long your lens is. A shorter focal length will give a wider depth of field while a longer focal length will give a shallower depth of field. If you are using a phone, you can try out adjusting your aperture by downloading a camera app that lets you manually adjust your settings. If you already have a full body camera, you can use aperture priority to play around with this (typically shown as A or Ap). For this theme, I would like you all to produce an image with a small depth of field. Whether your subject is in the foreground, mid ground, or background, try to use the explanation above to fit the theme. For an example of an image that uses a small depth of field with the subject not necessarily in the foreground, you can look at the top image of the reindeer. This image uses a subject in the mid ground but they are still able to produce a small depth of field. Please let me know if you have any questions You can submit here or in the PIMD discord. Theme 2 Title: Cup of Sunshine Submission, IGN, Metadata: https://imgur.com/a/1gOdBb1 Typed IGN: @-Ahli-LovesMike Editing software: iPhone Photos Process/info: I learned a lot about how to use the camera on my phone for this theme.. ๐ After battling an uncooperative dog who did not want his snoot as a focal point, I ventured outside and saw this lily. It was a super lucky shot, as I had a hard time keeping the flower in focus due to wind, and not long after, the clouds came over and it no longer had the bright sun that made it pop against the background. Beyond cropping the image to enhance the focal point, no other editing was done ๐
Theme 2 Title: The Space You Left Behind Submission, IGN, Metadata: https://imgur.com/a/7K6z2rm Typed IGN: @QZ Editing software: Phone Gallery Process/info: Used a small dof on Baymax (white toy figure) in focus while gently blurring the keyboard and background I was hoping to draw attention to Baymax and show the sense of isolation
THEME 2 Title: The Sunset Of Life Submission, IGN, Metadata: Typed IGN: XxMajesticxX Editing software: IPhone Gallery Process/Info: I gathered my house plants together, putting them on a table, placing an Urn with a family members ashes inside in front. I made sure to take this picture at sunset so I can catch the sun rays peeking through giving the picture more life.
