The phoenix, a classic symbol of rebirth and renewal, represents the idea that life is a continuous cycle, where death is not an end but a transformation. As the woman melts or dissolves into the phoenix, it suggests the transcendence of the physical form and the merging of the human soul with something eternal and powerful. The red sky, reminiscent of a sunset, could symbolize the end of one life or phase and the transition into another, as sunsets often represent closure and new beginnings. The choice of red—a color associated with life, passion, and energy—further emphasizes the vibrancy of the immortal spirit. The fusion of the woman and the phoenix portrays the idea that our souls or essence become part of a greater, never-ending force, rising again even after the apparent end. In this way, this artwork below speaks to the eternal nature of life, the transformative power of death, and the soul's journey through different forms, bound by the cycle of immortality. PS: I used ripped paper to cover my failed painting✌️ luckily it turns out nice. Spoiler: Sketch
Process: Just a proof of concept / sketch thing -- The concept of immortality is just super daunting overall -- All the emotions that you'll feel as time goes by and you never die; you watch those around you grow up, face hurdles in their lives, and grow old. You're not sure whether to hold on to the emotions and memories you have of others, or if you should feel guilt for even having the thought that maybe letting memories of them go is okay. Immortality screams loneliness more than anything else.
Credit: Brainless Witch A witch who cut her brain off because she's overwhelmed with sadness after losing so many human friends to time. Even if she cut her head off, the tears keep falling from her eyes. Makes people think that immortality isnt really a blessing, but a curse.
Not sure if it's available on mobile or if it's only on desktop- but Imgur has a "get share links" button that has a "bb code forums" option that does the coding for you 👀🫶

I personally believe in reincarnation, for me our physical vessels may cease to exist but our spirits will continue on their never ending adventure
Theme 2: Ritual Though this theme may coincide with spooky ideas, just note that it doesn’t have to! Any interpretation of this theme is acceptable, as long as you can explain your artistic vision. Here’s my example interpretation of the theme: Spoiler I’ve been watching a lot of foreign religious horror movies so I used that as a source of inspiration for this piece. I used a quick sketch I did in my sketchbook as a base and built off of it digitally. I also made a newspaper collage of demon possessions for the background which was fun to mess with! Initial Sketch + Layers: Spoiler Entries for this theme are due in a week, on Thursday 10/17 @ Changeover or 12pm PST. Please review all of the rules and regulations if you’re planning on posting digital media, and ask questions if you need! Happy drawing!
It'll still be accepted! If you need help with posting your entry here, feel free to pm You posted the gallery link, you have to use the link of the specific image <3
