Holidays center around food because our spoiled asses forget good food was a luxury for the majority of human existence. Most of our ancestors were plebs and peasants who ate whatever they could get their hands on to stay alive. How does eating the same boiled cabbage everyday for most of your life sound? Boring. Therefore holidays are a time for feasts!

  10. Oooo thats a interesting way to look at it. Also ive never tried boiled cabbage before so i wouldnt know

  11. Boiled cabbage tastes like nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Or porage? Water and flour mixed up into goop to fill your stomach. Ew.

  12. I tried porage and it made me throw up. Hate the texture

  13. Right, feasting at one time was a treat and that’s how they celebrated. Now it’s more like a comfort… food is comfort for a lot of people. On holidays a lot of people eat specific foods based on traditions they grew up with, or you get to eat something special maybe you only get from one family member that you see during the holiday when everyone gets together. Food brings people together, people bond over it, pass down recipes, share with each other. So it makes sense it would blend in with holidays.. getting together, sharing with each other, celebrating, etc
