Broooo....

  1. Wot da hek iz dis?

    33.3%
  2. Gg m8, I kinda dig it

    66.7%
  1. Ya, kinda click baitey, ain't it?

Not really, I was just seeing how mindsets are so different because of culture and the environment that you would almost see a very different perspective towards life from both sides.

Kids from Countries like India, China, South Korea, Japan and many third world nations in the east are worried about the following things usually:
    1) Cracking that one competitive exam for making their life.
    2) It's either that you're a Doctor, Engineer who studied from a government college or you're a failure who is going to hack life and get ahead in the life somehow or just a perpetual failure.
    3) In some third world countries part time jobs are frowned upon and kids can't do that to save parents' face.
    4) I don't think Asians are really as smart as stereotyped, neither are Indians, it's just that there's so much competition that an average kid there needs to be way above average to be just average.
    5) Like I have seen exams in USA and stuff, studies get tough after or during high school, by that time Asian schools have already made suffering a norm.
    6) Because of all these problems and rat race, Asian kids don't have time to go on twitter and make a profile (they/them) and then cancel people on twitter for saying something inappropriate..(Not saying identifying as someone other than Heterosexual is wrong, just referring to people who do so for brownie points in internet).
    7) In their youth, the only option is to work themselves to death in their own country or move to another country for change of the environment and feeling relaxed.
    8) Being an immigrant will lead you to facing racism though, even if most people are pretty chill in west, there's gonna be some asshole who's just going to hate you for taking their jobs or something.( I won't give my own opinion on this, pretty debatable, but yeah having more people would increase competition, but getting skilled members of society can help the economy as well as it does.).

Kids in west( I am an Asian person, I think my opinion here can be uneducated, please give your own points in the comments):
    1) Education loans are pretty bad man, I feel sorry for you guys.
    2) Parents want kids to leave at 18 or something, so does the society, in Asia it's common to live with parents till 27-28, or till you're financially independent enough. And some people just live in big families and support each other( Cheaper living for everyone if you can tolerate everyone)
    3) One thing I observed (can be wrong) is that people kind of go on Twitter a lot, cancel others a lot, create new things which are appropriate or inappropriate ( extreme Left) or people are crazy fanatics and really hate immigrants, are anti Vax, ultra nationalists or well just generally dangerous ( Extreme right). I believe it's coz things are comparatively easy. Even a plumber in west makes like 60k or something, entry level software developer will make what? 80-90k at best? With savings and investments, plumber can have a better lifestyle. Maybe, people don't have that drive to achieve so much so they're able to Pursue their passions, which is a good thing.
    4) There's freedom though, from toxic parents and other people, it's easy to get a part time job and do things. (Again, education loans will love to disagree)
    5) Still, I love countries following Capitalism, free market to me looks better than the Utopia communists are promising.

Again, all these differences in lifestyle kinda baffles me and this should give everyone a reason to respect one another, life can be pretty shitty for the other person too and grass looks greener on the other side, don't be racist/ xenophobic kids.
What're your opinions on this? Would like to add more points in any of the fields?
Again, I can and probably am biased, you can correct me and add new points

  2. What i don't understand is the asian culture to slam kids full of activities and then expect them to get top marks on everything or be disowned

  4. Multiculturalism is a very important study. Anthropology is one of the greatest courses anyone can take to learn how to look at a culture to understand the Why behind the things they do, with a less opinionated point of view.

Yes there will always be opinions, but it’s tough to state them in a way to get an objective point of view without sounding crass, and still have the questions not appear subjective.

Kids everywhere are subject to less of their own desires vs what their cultures and upbringing shape their lives and views to be. Study their cultures first and you’ll see much more of why they’re sheparded the way they are, and why various agencies groups rebel the way they do.

  5. Yeah so, I'm middle aged now but when I was a young adult here's the stuff we worried about.

#1. Finding a good paying job with benefits. This was very hard because of multiple factors. In the pro-Obamacare era entry level jobs rarely offered health insurance...but health insurance was much cheaper to buy before insurance companies were forced to cover everybody. Also, my generation had our parents and grandparents yelling at us to go find a good union job but those didn't really exist to the extent they did in their day and they didn't understand that as they'd all had the same jobs for 30+ years. And finally, we had to go find work during the 2008 financial crash, that was a major pain in the ass. But we survived and thrived!

#2. We worried about gas prices!!! Since we had such a hard time finding jobs, companies paid us shit. Minimum wage was $5.15 an hour and gas was $4 a gallon sometimes. We worked half the week to make enough gas money to get to work for the week. It suckkkkkkkked.

#3. I never worried about student loans. I worked full time the whole way through college and paid in full every semester. But I did worry a ton about school. It was a mess. It was like the transitional time between everything being done online and everything being done on paper. So, even though I went to a well established university their systems were super confusing and not uniform when it came to things like registering for classes or submitting homework or tests online. And wifi wasn't all over campus so finding a spot on campus to do work was a pain in the ass.

#4. Banks and autopay bills. Ugh they did my generation dirty. They'd charge crazy charges because things would get messed up on their end. They'd charge overdraft fees out the ass over stupid stuff. Like getting gas at the pump and they'd put a $200 hold on your card for 2 weeks and then charge you an overdraft fee when it's been weeks and they still haven't lifted the hold and your phone bill would autopay. You'd get a fee from the bank and from the phone company 🤣

  6. #2 gas prices are still insanely high. Costed me $86 on my last fill up. It was usul been costing me $50-$60 for the same amount of miles done. It hurts 😩

  7. I won’t go into much depth here because who’s got the time? But how i see it, the US has turned into a giant group of people shouting “my rights, my rights” and everyone’s trying to talk over someone else to prove that what’s best for them is best for everyone, on BOTH sides. In other cultures, there’s an extreme pressure put on people (especially children) and a lot of times they aren’t given a choice, I believe that it can at times be too much, however, I also don’t see it as a bad thing that children are raised to be competitive, hard working, and goal driven. I believe that if the US did more of that and less of the “🌈you can do anything 🌈” fairy tale shit we might not be living in such a toxic environment.

  8. Yeah, the gas prices are rising again. And even though I can easily afford gas these days it's still giving me some anxiety because of past experiences.

But gas is still less than it was back then by almost a dollar and the minimum wage is almost twice what it was then too. Sooo it's not as bad as before, yet.

  9. Tbh not all Asian countries lol. Mines pretty lax

  10. Been all up here. Atm at the cheapest place near me its $2.14 per litre. At the darest place semi near me (out the way a bit but they probly dont have any other options) its $2.48 per litre. Its like 3.8L in a gallon so you can do the maths on that lol. But yehh. Its insane

  11. Thats good then

  12. Yeah that's high. I just filled my tank it was $48 and some change. $3.05/gallon

Not as high as it used to be, but not the $2.25 it hovered around last summer either. Plus living in the country we've gotta drive 20-30 minutes to get anywhere so I fill my tank a couple times a week.

  13. Ow that hurts my bank acc even to think about it. Ive dropped to gonna use my car maybe only once a month until i get a job. Coz then i have more money for car parts for my project car as well. And cant afford $80 odd a week on gas when i only get paid $242 a week

  14. Yeah, that's just one car. We have 2🤣

  15. Im scared for how much it gonna cost me to fill up my project car once its running. Coz i gotta buy gas + additive coz it runs on leaded fuel which doesnt exist anymore

  16. 🤷‍♀️It'll work out. Life always does

  17. Yehh

  18. I like Eastern philosophy but I also like Western philosophy.

  19. I am American, but even I know Asians are the master race
