Yeah I'll be taking it when it's available. Though I haven't been staying up to date with what's going on here so I don't know when it will be available. My partner is immunocompromised so best be getting it if I ever wanna see my family all in one space again. And so he stays safe too
Are american military ppl forced to? In Alberta (province im in rn) it's only the hospital ppl and elderly in care homes being forced
Yup. Your body is government property while you're enlisted. Our hospital said they won't require employees to get the vaccine but they'll reccomend it. They can't afford to deal with lawsuits questioning the legality of them mandating it.
" It is estimated that the doubling time of medical knowledge in 1950 was 50 years; in 1980, 7 years; and in 2010, 3.5 years. In 2020 it is projected to be 0.2 years—just 73 days. Students who began medical school in the autumn of 2010 will experience approximately three doublings in knowledge by the time they complete the minimum length of training (7 years) needed to practice medicine. Students who graduate in 2020 will experience four doublings in knowledge. What was learned in the first 3 years of medical school will be just 6% of what is known at the end of the decade from 2010 to 2020. Knowledge is expanding faster than our ability to assimilate and apply it effectively; and this is as true in education and patient care as it is in research. " The famous hockey stick graph that was applied to climate change, to industrialisation, to human population, and digital technology is also present within the medical field. With open-source projects, the internet, and collaborative research between labs, usimg modern-day technology and the wealth of pre-existing knowledge, as well as how quickly things have been improving, I don't think pointing at trends from prior pandemics is at all relevant. Normally 10-15 years is maybe for some low level epidemics which are begging for eyeballs and people to test on. But with Covid was have patients standing round the block waiting to trial a new vaccine, and we have the collective efforts of many countries using state of the art medicine to arrive at an answer. The delay has almost entirely been in the testing phases and the Covid-19 vaccine is held to the same scrutiny as all other vaccines. The process it's gone through is the same as all the others. The amount of time is a testament to both the power of medicine and the threat the virus poses to humanity. It's more something to marvel at rather than a reason to be skeptical.
