How to survive the apocalypse

  1. Civil War makes the most sense. The stores here are still fully stocked altho we are easing back into a full lockdown starting tomorrow =/

  2. Sunday is a good day for food prep

  3. Depends. I work 12 hours every Sunday. That full time student full time job gig going on

  4. It doesn't take as much time as you think, I promise. If you cut your veggies when you bring them home from the store and just leave them in your fridge, you can blanch them and freeze them in 5 minutes when you're afraid they're going to go bad soon. Canning is a longer process and I typically only do it when I have a huge batch of something from the garden or bought a ton of peppers super cheap from the store.

I'm currently a housewife, but I've always done this when I worked full time too. My degree is in culinary arts and restaurant management. I can do this stuff with my eyes closed tbh.

  6. I did this in college too. It's exhausting at the time, but in the grand scheme of life it's only a short time and graduating without student debt is 100% worth it.

  7. I can't do this, I like to cook to much. I've tried to make up meals ahead of time that just need warmed up day of but I end up freezing them forever.

Imagine it...the only hour I get to myself everyday is in the kitchen, where I'm in my element, the baby gates are up to keep the little one out, and I get to relax and make whatever I want. It's my safe space.

  8. I saw these things you can put on top of your range and it basically turns it into a cooktop, so it's way easier to cook large amounts of food if your prepping.

With working from home and barely going out I don't feel the need to food prep. I usually just snack between meals

  9. I've got something like that, it came with my stove. I've never used it lol

  10. Oh damn! That's cool though. I love my cast irons too much to use much else

  11. My next update will be on nonfood essentials to stock for emergencies.

I'm gonna go to the store first though, people who don't pay as close of attention to store supply issues as me have started to notice the shelves getting bare and complaining on facebook today. I'm excited to see the panic buying in full swing again. It's fascinating to watch, and I kinda avoided the stores last time this happened because I always have stock on hand. This time I wanna experience it in all it's glory!

I'd reccomend you take a close look at your own stores today. Don't panic buy, because that's what noobs do, but be vigilant and make sure you have extras of anything that's running low.

Ps. I know it seems like I go to the store everyday, but that's just so I don't have to go to the store at all for a few months when the weather turns.

It's happening again....Anybody else been to the store today? How does yours look?

  14. I wonder if the state of the supermarkets is a result of how people think they need to prep for lockdown under Biden's regime. 🌞

Because Trump let it get to such an extent that the lockdown may actually need to be that long.

But I'm sure Biden will have intermediate breathing room for the rights claustrophobes.

  15. Biden has no power until Jan. 20th. And the states have yet to certify the results nor have the electors voted.

I'd imagine the battle going on in the streets of DC right now has more to do with it than anything. Nobody is afraid of Covid around here, and if another lockdown were to take place here everyone would tell elected officials to go fūck themselves.
