All right hear me out here. I know there’s probably a big split when it comes to something Disney themed, with some people all for it and some really against it. But here’s my thoughts. For a Disney themed hunt: The story avis could be Cinderella and Prince Charming. We could have ec parties with invites to a ball. For XC a leader board that resets at midnight. Maybe a story pass, with Bell turning into a princess, and the Beast transforming from man to beast LB avis could be Meg and Hercules We could have limited time shards as well: Collect necklaces for Pocahontas or Kocoum (John looks sorta boring?) Collect magic lamps for Jasmine or Aladdin Collect fans for Mulan or Shang Maybe even have pet outfits that go along with some of the popular animal side-kicks. Like a Pegasus dog costume, or a Mushu gecko costume. A sewing needle and thread for the mouse? That pretty much concludes my thoughts on this matter. Be gentle forumers.
They can't use the actual character names or avatars that look just like them because of copyright infringement.
Hmm, I think the invite parties are only for holiday hunts??? (Saint Patty, Christmas, July 4th, etc.) If they would actually make Disney princess themed avis then I think its better if it would be like those Zodiac/Greek/Chinese Zodiac shards instead of the shard avis like this Easter's with the VIP versions...
I just honestly don't get the hype surrounding Disney... I liked it as a kid, but it's almost like there's a cult following surrounding it all. 😭 I get it is opinion-based but it just doesn't really appeal to me in anything more than, like, for nostalgia. They've done quite a bit of hunts and monthly themes that have avatars that resemble Disney characters, and last year even had a Disney World / Disney Land spring break hunt. No, they use invite parties for some non-holidays! For example, there were invites for a hunt in September that had no holiday attachment.
it wouldn’t necessarily be exact names and images. Like this past hunt wasn’t directly fast and furious but clearly we can see what it was based on
Yeah, but Disney is a lot more strict about that kind of thing than a movie might be. Plus there actually was an older Hunt with avis based off Disney!
Support ... I’d want Ariel as an Ava ... and the ability to change her tail to legs when I wana go for a walk Oh and in before some dope says WE ALREADY HAD AN ARIEL AVA 🙄
I know a game recently that did a Frozen Disney collab, basically Anna and Elsa with their canon costumes, so it is possible. BUT the contract even for a temporary license might be a tad expensive considering Disney and its market value, so ATA will have to make sure they get their money back. Considering the reaction (read: outrage) for ATA's business decisions the past couple of months (the jacked up prices of literally everything, moving a lot of free content behind a paywall), I don't necessarily trust them to deal with something like this in an actually reasonable manner. I don't want them to have any more reasons to increase their prices any further while still delivering mediocre content.
It is possible to do a Disney themed hunt.. ata would change a few details on the Ava’s the misc items the title of the party ... all the while it still represents the Disney characters... without the copyright crap... most the forumers? Idiots? Just disagree wit urself,OP coz it’s the cool thing to do ....sissies yo!
Noobs should boycott these forums ... with their club ad threads etc Out with the old and in with new!
I’m not saying anyone has to agree or like this idea... but idk why the only discussion is about not being able to directly copy Disney. Of course they can’t directly copy Disney. But they do themed hunts BASED on lots of things without using exact names, so why would this be any different? I honestly thought the discussion would lead to more opinions on the idea itself rather than whether they’re allowed to use the name Cinderella lol put a bitch in a blue dress and call her Cindy. I didn’t know I’d have to specify that when suggesting a hunt idea. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ y’all are too much sometimes lol
I think a lot of people's worry is that Disney is a VERY strict company that controls it's assets very tightly. They monopolize the industry. Nostalgia aside, they aren't a good company when it comes to creative freedom. The reason other apps may have been able to do explicit Disney-themed things is because they entered a partnership/sponsorship with Disney. To go any farther than ATA has where they danced along the copyright lines, without entering a partnership with Disney, would probably get them into legal trouble. It might not and ATA would be more aware then any player is, but I think we're trying to put everything on the table for a discussion here! And the sad reality is that Disney isn't very nice at sharing unless they get paid like... big bucks. Tbh though I may be being a little bias just because I don't really enjoy Disney as much as I know a lot of people do. I personally would like to see more original, unique content by ATA instead of piggybacking off of other franchises or media.
Disney are ruthless. I don't think A.T.A would risk it and Disney are sorta lame. They're all "diverse like" with their bestiality and traditional sexism. But they don't represent ugly people. There are no ugly princesses, only ugly people who get trod on, where their ugliness is their character and their looks are seen as a joke. Do we really want the devs being sued over Didner? When the devs imitate other big franchises, those franchises don't actually give a fuck and won't sue because they don't have a massive legal department that try to money grab at every single thing that copies their image because who cares. They actually want to share their image, aren't that greedy, and don't want to ruin those small companies... But Disney do. They would take us in forums saying "this and that is disney", screenshot it, do side-by-side comparisons of things, and do their darndest to sue ATA. Disney are another beast altogether. A small deflection like what normally happens isn't enough to prevent a full-on legal suit. It's just enough to cast some doubt. Or deflect anyone from instantly recognizing the figure as being from another franchise.
It’s the only discussion because that’s largely the reason why it wouldn’t happen. Like everyone has already said, I doubt ATA would risk a potential lawsuit for a 2 week hunt. Additionally, Cinderella and Cindy (even though I know this is just an example) would still be too close to the design and character that Disney created. IF this was to happen, ATA would have to make a formal collaboration or something to that effect.
