So i just had this smol convo w someone. I have never considered the word females to be offensive. I have noticed some women cringe at it and that always confused me. I don't think ppl are implying the word bitch when they use the word female. Thoughts? Yay or nay? I use the word a lot when I'm talking science or stats idk.
Oddness. I've seen ppl here get bothered by it too tho so I was wondering if maybe they'd shed some light
Ohhhhh.. speaking of females. 🤭 The vets that saw my doggo today thought he was a female lmao. Said he looked too adorable to be a male.. whatever that means haha.
Ah what? Much confuse. Since when was referring to someone by their gender akin to a cuss word? Silly. 😂
Oh noes This happened with a cat I rescued a while ago! We took him to the vet and they insisted he was in heat but he just wasn't used to being cooped up inside. And then they found his dick and admitted defeat.
African Americans are trying to reclaim a slur. Females are literally reclaiming the only word used to describe their biological sex. How do you lose that word?
I feel like other people probably misinterpreted what she was saying. Like. To me, it's hinting at something (not sure of context) but that wouldn't be my first guess. Or maybe there's just 232 females (🙊) on their period. 🌚
Perhaps it was negligence and the refusal to use that word in the first place that leas to it? Woman, girl, lady, and other gender(as opposed to sex)-based words have been preferred for political reasons by some feminist groups, apparently leaving the average woman confused.
YOU USED THE F WORD Also, it was a post complaining about the word bitches/men being subtle w their insults about women so idk.
Edit of previous post: Perhaps it was negligence and the refusal to use that word in the first place that leas to it? Woman, girl, lady, and other gender(as opposed to sex)-based words have been preferred for political reasons by some feminist groups. I remember that over 2 years ago, Kitten posted something saying she didn't like anyone who referred to women as "female" because she viewed the word as demeaning because it refers to their biological sex, thus making it a slur via rejection without any bully men needing to pick it up, and misappropriate it. It was jettisoned and sacrificed in the name of antiscience and identity politics, apparently leaving most females and males alike, confused.
So some ppl consider it a slur because it excludes certain groups who don't identify as male or female or might be trans and not feel fully accepted by those groups or something? Did I interpret that correctly?
Yeah. Also it would only mean bitch" if it's directed towards an identitarian who already disowned the word as offensive, and if the guy's categorization of those people includes bitchiness. Then, there might be a subtle hint at that, but no more than calling them a "feminist" or "identitarian" or "ideologue" would.
This feels like old news to me tho, and I think the discussion's been had, and female is in to stay and isn't rlly used as a slur. It really just depends on the victim. If they want to be offended by "female", then they will be offended, and probably will invite people to use it harshly. But overall i think it's fine and most feminists now accept the word. There is no need to deny one's biology. Your biology is your biology and your gender is your gender. If you're trans, you need to know that.
