So, here is my take on this whole thing: First and foremost, I think the implementation of "likes" in forums is dumb, vapid and shallow. However, I tried to look at it from another perspective, which is that perhaps the "likes" thing would encourage more thoughtful commentary, as people would strive for them. I thought we could actually utilize them in a productive way that would benefit the way we communicate in forums. Then, y'all started like farming yourselves, essentially destroying any possibility of doing anything good with it, and weirdly building up your own egos without actually doing anything worthwhile. So, basically, I am back to my first perspective on "likes" in forums: its dumb.
I still think it's good and that we as a community just have to be forthright with like-farmers that they're being ridiculous. Majority of people that use forums do not like-farm and I'd hate for a few bad apples to soil the bunch.
Yeah, I get you. I mean, I am just going to continue to use forums as I otherwise would, so it doesn't change anything but my mood. π
I fully intend to continue like-farming Tyler when I am bored because the idea of him being number one is amusing to me
I mean I just joked around about wanting 666 likes and mini just said no you get more and now Iβm here Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Like farming is dumb, and the likes feature should never have been implemented. People just use the number as an ego booster to make themselves feel good about their empty lives and lack of any real achievements.
