A few years ago, for one of my friends 16th birthdays, he got a brand new (and quite expensive) longboard from his parents. A few mutual friends and I were thus helping him break it in by skateboarding up and down the very residential street he lived on. There was basically no traffic that went through this neighborhood so it was a good area to skateboard. The birthday boy fell off his new longboard at one point, and the board rolled into an intersection. No biggie, because there was almost no traffic. He gets up and starts to go to grab his board... And at that moment, as we all watch in horror, a car drives through the intersection and right over his board. There's a loud ass crunch and the car brakes, and then a few seconds later speeds off. The board is in two pieces. We were all speechless. My friend literally cried and I don't blame him. The longboard was an expensive one he'd been wanting for a while, and his family wasn't financially well off... they couldn't afford to replace the longboard right away as they had spent months trying to save up to buy the original one.
