  3. It looks amazing!
    I didn't see Mushu, though. :(

  4. Yeah that highly bothers me, heā€™s my favorite character.

  5. I think it might be trying to be more realistic but dishonor on them, dishonor on their family and dishonor on their cow.

  6. literally thought this said Muschi

  7. I'm so disappointed in Disney and no it's not because I'm racist. šŸ™„ Ariel has been my favorite princess for over 10 years. I was pissed when rumors of Chloe Moretz was gonna be cast. Then Zendaya I was super stoked for! Halle has a beautiful voice but she isnt the Ariel I wanted. I want someone with beautiful long flowing hair, and yes they could use a wig and I'm praying they do. And hopefully blue contacts. This is the princess remake I've been dying to see and Halle just wasnt anyone I wouldve ever expected. I truly hope they recast. Zendaya wouldve been amazing šŸ˜

  8. I didn't see you either. :(

  9. I just want her to have her iconic red hair and blue eyes and for it to look good/relatively natural (as natural as you can get with flaming red hair). Halle is a great singer but she just isnt the Ariel I had in mind.
I agree that Zendaya would make a great cast, tho I sincerely doubt they'll be recasting at this point.

  10. I more so meant even if their audience complains, Disney will do as they please, just like every company would. Theyā€™ve had enough issues in the past about being/seeming racist already, itā€™s nice theyre trying to be more current but I still feel a secondary mermaid story would be a better fit since Ariel is widely known for looking a certain way, everyone has different opinion though and mine arenā€™t any more correct than another lol

  12. They shouldā€™ve stuck with the classics or at least have chose an actual actress instead of a singer. I know a lot of people were hoping Zendaya would get the part, when she is an actress and singer. I donā€™t feel either way about it, but I donā€™t want the movie to be awful just because Disney is trying ā€œfitā€ in with the time.

Also, I heard that the Mulan remake wonā€™t have Mushu and a couple of the songs wonā€™t be in the movie either.

  14. I think the answer is simple! The had Chyna played Erusla daughter in Descendants so the keep the theme going!!šŸ¤”

  16. Arielā€™s race isnā€™t important to the story and if you want to get technical, in the original little mermaid before Disney made it nice and frilly, Arielā€™s skin was green, her tongue was cut out, and her feet bled the whole time she was on land on top of other things.

Thereā€™s already a discrepancy in representation of poc and black people in particular in the film industry. I see no problem with the casting choice and it will give little girls the opportunity to see themselves in their favorite Disney Princess.

All Iā€™m seeing is racism veiled by excuses. Subconscious racism is still racism. Subtle racism is still racism.

  17. Lets be honest- if they were doing a live action of the Princess and the Frog and casted a white woman based off her voice, yā€™all would lose your shit.

It just doesnā€™t make sense for the story.

  18. The problem with that is that in the Princess and the Frog, they do show elements alluding to race. Its set in 1920s New Orleans, right? They straight up show you the two very distinct worlds while sheā€™s on her way home as the luxurious white world shifts into the run down shacks that are her neighborhood.

Itā€™s SUBTLE. It isnā€™t in your face and loud, but itā€™s there. I said it before and I said it again.

There is no allusion to race in the little mermaid. There isnā€™t even a direct call to it. Therefore it isnā€™t significant. At all.

  19. I wouldnā€™t because itā€™s a fake movie and the skin color of actors donā€™t bother me. Iā€™d watch it regardless.
