I’ve had tofu actually, when I was younger. Also in my miso soup 🍲 tbh doesn’t taste like much of anything 😊
I was scared to try Tofu but one time I was at this Ramen place that was fucking amszing. They had all sorts of mushrooms and cheeses and meats and seafood and like 20 types of noodles at a buffet sorta thing. You filled your bowl with this and then pay them for the weight of the bowl, then they add their broth (normal or spicy) and me and my friends had very diverse ones and one of them had a bowl that they totally underestimated. So it turned into this massive thing and we were all working on it together. It had tofu in it and I'm not a fussy eater once the food is in front of me so I'm eating this weird rubbery octopussy thing and the tofu and some fish? That was in it... But I remember being surprised by how similar the tofu tasted to Matzoh which is a basic bread just made of wheat and water and sometimes added to soups. I thought it would taste beany or have a beany flavour but it really just tasted like that Matzoh. I havent had fried Tofu or any other form of it so i can't speak for that... But in that Ramen, it tasted very normal and terrestrial. I'm not picking it over pasta, bread, or rice any time soon but for variety, it might be fun.
It's been a while since I had matza. I used to have it from time-to-time as a child at the house of one of my Jewish friends. Bread in general is delicious though. My favorites are probably sourdough and Amish friendship bread.
