Thanks to everyone who answered, I somehow got an idea from this. My main has over 230 dns and since I don’t think I’ll be using them anytime soon, I’m hoping for a 7 day long hunt so I can consider going for the leaderboard bc it rewards smexy stuff again but I wanted to hear opinions from people with leaderboard experiences so I can see if I’m just going to fall short huehue. It usually differs hunt to hunt. Some hunts you'll have to flash at least thrice a day everyday. Others, just once a day. Really depends on the craze a particular hunt causes. It's beneficial to try to get into top 100 from the start of the hunt and not wait till the last minute unless you plan on opening hella boxes as the changeover is happening.
I try to save some DNs for farming but I do occasionally do flashes. I have only ever been t100 once and it was for a PvP hunt, though, so... can't relate.
Eventho you already stated you are not planning to spend on this game, think of it twice - no actually think of it 3,000 times. Some are now regretting they spent money on here. *cough*
