Ariel Belle Mulan Rapunzel Aurora Cinderella Snowwhite Jasmine Tiana Pocahontas (really didnt like her)
Cinderella!!! Every day before going to bed my aunt used to tell that story.. even today I watch that movie
I've always adore Mulan.. cause i see myself in her. when i was a kid, my parents didnt like the idea of me playing with car toys, robots and with boys. (i just cant stand girls and their pink tiaras and dresses) so as i grew older i got the freedom of choosing what i am really passionate about. Im a woman that definitely likes sneakers more than heels and video games more than make ups. But that doesn't mean that i cant dress up on certain occasions. 😂 <insert DAYA's SIT STILL, LOOK PRETTY song>
Pocahontas is a good movie, and I think it's important for Native American representation. The songs are really good. But now that I'm older, it really bugs me how much Disney changed the story of Pocahontas. She was a real person and was 12 years old when the real John Smith (and other white male colonists) began sexually abusing her. As she got older, she did help as an ambassador for Native Americans and did help the bridge the two communities together. But I can't shake off that the turmoil Pocahontas faced as a child got rebranded where she was a consenting adult in her "relationship" with John Smith. Because of Disney's influence, majority of people don't know Pocahontas' real story. I think it's a story that Disney shouldn't have told, and that they should have found a Native American historical figure whose story they could have remained more true to ー there are a LOT of badass Native women in history. Or they could have fabricated their own tale instead.
I completely agree with this. Her story was much more drastic than the Disney version. Although I really like the movie and its songs, the real story just bugs me too much. Also with Mulan. Disney adaptation is okay to me for the most part. There are just so many historical facts that was changed and like Pocahontas, Mulan’s story is a poor representation of China or the Huns.
I don't know as much about the real Mulan's story, but the portrayal of the Huns definitely strikes me as being racist. The portrayal of Native Americans in Peter Pan is also a little... stereotypical. They did much better in Pocahontas, even if they did do a bad job at retelling her story. I think the voice actress for Pocahontas is even a Native American woman, which is always pleasing.
I know it looks bit racist. Oh, you know they are making Mulan live action movie, right? I really don’t want to have high hopes for that one, but I shall have a faith that it might turn out okay.
I hate their trend of making all their animated movies into live remakes. 🙃 Just say you have no more movie ideas 😂
Yeah bbbbut I wanna see live action Little Mermaid while they are on it. They did almost all the princess movies, can’t leave out my little Ariel. I will riot.
My fav disney movies are Lion King and Little Mermaid. Live action is much awaited for but its so scary thinking how they will mess up and ruin it. For example, Jaffar in new Aladdin movie is so cringe. And yes Disney does sugarcoat all the stories hence taking the project of a true story gets hard because changing the story shows disrespect to the people who are portrayed
The movie industry needs some fresh talent tbh I haven't seen a new movie that I actually thought was good in forever
That's why they shouldn't use real ppl and just make up their own characters. The exception being Hercules (who is probs not a real person but was an important religious figure at one point) since no one who doesn't have a brain defect actually follows that religion or cares anymore.
My fave is Belle because I probably relate the most to her. She's an intelligent young woman who enjoys reading and singing and cares more for others than she does for herself. She's also very opinionated and isn't afraid to share that opinion with others. She's extremely stubborn (lol same) and kind of a loner but is also friendly. Now I have the opening song stuck in my head 🥵 I honestly might go watch the movie rn 😂 This explanation defo got cut off by this song in my head 🌚
Lol thats why its called Greek Mythology! Myth is in the name! Yes, they should just make up people but they wanted to be “inclusive and diverse” and this (by being stereotypical) is how they thought they could achieve that.
Ariel is my Disney classic favorite, then it goes Merdia from Disney Brave and finally Moana but Ariel will always be my #1 fave.
Can I just say how hilarious it is that Belle is allegedly the only person in her entire town that reads books
Tbh the literacy rate among non-aristocrats in that time period was probably low and they were making fun of her for tryna be bougie af
