  1. Hello everyone,

We are announcing some changes surrounding silencing rules.

This is being done as the game has evolved over the years and we would like our guidelines to reflect the current audience and direction of the game. We also want to make sure that we all have a shared understanding of what’s expected of our mods and players.

Please note that this will apply to silences going forward. WE WILL NOT BE RETROACTIVELY REVIEWING ANY OLD SILENCES.

Players can and will still be silenced for the following:
    - Anything that breaks TOU (http://www.partyinmydorm.com/tos.html)
    - Graphic sexual content (describing sexual acts)
    - Clear harassment
    - Racial, sexual etc discrimination
    - General disruptiveness (don’t be a jerk for the sake of being a jerk)

Players will no longer be silenced for the following:
    - General RP requests
    - General swearing/bypass (without context of above)

    Other changes:
    - We are changing the filter to show stars (****) instead of limiting what can be posted.
    - We are no longer silencing for bypasses of the chat filter unless they fall under the above silenceable list. E.g. “What the fug Mark?” is not silenceable.

Our staff and mods are still trusted to use their judgement in making a silencing call by reviewing the context in which players post their content. If the bypass is used to break Terms of Use (see above), then it is silenceable. Mods are free to silence according to their judgement and ATA will not be required to review them (this includes if you are being a big jerk).

The chat filter changes will take effect in a couple of hours but the silencing changes are now in effect.
